My youngest brother was killed on a bicycle. My dad spoke of his meeting with the truck driver: There was nothing I could say that would have made him feel worse.
Certainly, no driver really wants to kill a bicyclist, but, the stresses of life, compounded by stressful traffic, can cloud a driver's judgement. If a cyclist is rude and/or thoughtless/sanctimonious, chances for dangerous encounters are multiplied.
Sharing the road peacefully requires us all to keep our priorities straight. Recognize the importance of respecting, and caring about, each other.
If we are to evolve into the sort of humans who are capable of bringing about World Peace, we must first create "Road Peace."
